Flight in a North American T-6G
A good friend let me ride along in a North American T-6 G trainer today. It was a fabulous ride. The 600hp 9-cylinder radial engine produces a strong, satisfying wind when you have the cockpit's canopies open. I was fortunate to have some time to try my hand on the stick, and found the plane very easy to handle. I think this was because there was so much power available, keeping you well above stall speed (about 60 knots, if I recall correctly). Everything just felt right about the T-6G, from the sound of the engine to the power and handling.

I am very jealous. You ever fly a sailplane?? I went last year, and it was quite a bit of fun.
josh r, no I haven't (yet) been in a sailplane. I have a friend at work that flies powered and unpowered aircraft, and he makes it sound wonderful. Are you working on a pilot's license of some sort?
I would like to get a pilot's license.. Perhaps a Sport License to start with. My family owns a Aeronca Chief project. If that ever gets airworthy, and I have a bit more cashflow I will be pretty excited.
Right now, I am too broke to invest in the hobby, but I can still obsess.
Here is the video from our ride last year. If you get a chance, I would highly recommend giving the sailplane a try, You will not see the clouds quite the same again.
Wow, Dean's video is pretty good! The acrobatics (about 5 minutes into the video) were a lot of fun, even just watching! The pilot, Lou, seems like a pretty good guy.
Yep, next time you are in Spokane you oughta let me know, and I can see if we can get you set up with a ride.. Of course Minden NV is the sailplane hub, and that is much closer to you...
